Our Vision

Our vision and values as a church are summarised in four words - Loving, Living, Serving, and Sharing. These words characterise what we want to be like and motivate our activity.

Loving

One of the foundational calls on our lives as Christians is to “love God” and “love our neighbours” – the great commandment (Matt 22:36-40)

Our first relationship in life is with God. It is by him we were created, through him we live and are saved. He is the King! Loving him is expressed both through personal and corporate worship, and also through the practical obedience to Jesus teaching.

The Bible also calls us to love one another. The church is the ‘body of Christ’ – the family of God on the earth. Strong relationships amongst us are important. We care for and support for one another, share good and bad times and work together for each other’s good.

We are strengthened through church links within Oxfordshire Community Churches and Salt & Light Ministries.

Living

Jesus makes a difference to everyday life – 7 days a week, 365 days a year! A daily relationship with him strengthens and empowers our personal lives, our families, workplaces and friendships through the supernatural power of the Holy Spirit.

This involves choosing, each day, to live out the call of Jesus on our lives – to be his disciples. We live expecting God to act in our lives and the lives of those around us. We trust him to meet our needs and to equip and empower us to do his will.

We train and release people in the gifts that God has given them to develop the fullness of ministry that God has for their lives.

Serving

Jesus calls us to be servants, reflecting the way he led his life on earth (Mark 10:43-45). His life was given to the benefit of others. We are called to serve in the same way – living life for the good of others. He spent most time with the poor and oppressed; those shunned by society. The good news of Jesus is more than just words – it must also be practical action that changes real lives.

Sharing

The gospel of Jesus is good news! We believe the message of Jesus death and resurrection and its power to change lives. Part of our vision as a church is to proclaim that good news. This is an individual and corporate task. As we love and serve others, we must also communicate the gospel of Jesus.

Our local mission is to Carterton and the surrounding villages. Through our links within Oxfordshire Community Churches we work to see churches growing and planted across our county.

We also seek to support mission nationally and internationally through the release of people, time, prayer and finance.
