‘If your Presence does not go with us’, Moses contended with God, ‘do not send us up from here.’
The people of God cannot enter the purposes of God without the accompanying presence of God; something Moses recognised well. He had already witnessed some incredible signs as he led the people out of the oppression of slavery and through the victory of the red sea, but he was neither complacent nor confident in a future which was not marked out by the presence of God.
When we are hearing the voice of God with clarity about the future and our regions are receiving the promise of going beyond our borders, there is a pressing need to keep in step with the spirit. We need to move where God is moving and be a people who are moved most by his presence.
